15 months old!!!

WOW!! It is amazing how much joy a 15 month old baby can bring. He discovers new things everyday. He makes me smile every time I look at him. I never knew I could love something so much.

Feedings: He eats any kind of meat except bologna. Not that I blame him, GROSS!! Doesn't like the texture of most vegetables. (we are working on that) Still eats vegetable and fruits via baby food. LOVES CHEETOS!!! Not a real fan of milk but loves milkshakes.

Teeth: 14 and 2 more on the way

Sleep: goes to bed at 9:00, flips over on his belly and goes to sleep. Sleeps until about 7:00. Has a 2 hour nap in the morning and 2 hour nap at 3:00. Very scheduled!!

Talking: Momma and Dada constantly!!! Something that sounds like Kitty!!

Play: Loves books and the remote control. He plays so good by himself. Like the dryer and the dishwasher. Has discovered the toliet and likes to put things in the toliet.

Mobile: Crawls everywhere fast and cruises the furniture. Crawls bearcrawl sometimes. It is hilarious. Can walk holding one hand!!!!

Therapy: PT once a week, Dr. Sneed told us today to wait 2 months to see if speech is any better then we will reevaluate. He can communicate what he wants or needs. She advised us today to have an OT eval. He has sensory issues with things such as foods i.e. anything with texture-peas, beans, carrots, etc. We have eval next week. She said this is common in premature boys.

Kohen is an overall great baby. He is happy all the time. Even when he shows his "mean" face he is in a good mood.

Weekend at the River

We had family weekend this past weekend at the River. It was a lot of fun. Mom and Dad, Shannon, Michael, Hayden and Will, along with Brandon, Kohen and myself stayed in a cabin on the White River. We had a blast. Kohen was sooo good. He was up at 6:00 each morning but that got us all up and going.

I just tried to plug my camera into the cord to hook it up to the computer and the end was bent!!! Like it had been chewed on!!!! Wonder who did that ????

More Therapy...

Looks like Kohen will be starting speech therapy soon. I knew it was coming just didn't think it would be this soon. Today I asked Brooke (our pt) how many words he should be saying. She got the speech therapist at Sensational Kids to come and talk to me. She said he should be saying anywhere from 10 to 12 words. He says 2!!! Momma and Dada. She started asking me all these questions for example, "Is he doing this..." Every time the answer was "No." I was upset about it at first but now that it has sunk in, I'm OK. I just hate that he has to go through something else. PT is so hard on him. He cries when I leave him and cries all the way home. Each week after he gets done with PT, I get him a milkshake on the way home as a reward. (Not something a hygienist should do) It keeps him calm for about 5mins. I know he is just so tired. It breaks my heart to think he has something else to overcome. One of these days he will catch up and be just like all the other kids his age!!!

Dane and Kohen's first ride

Dana and I took the "boys" on their first walk together. They both loved it. After we got back to Dana's, Dane laughed so hard at Kohen. It was so funny. I have never heard a baby laugh like that. I guess he thought Kohen was funny!!!

A Few Red Bumps....

As I was getting Kohen ready for PT last Monday, I noticed several red bumps on his hands and legs. They did not look familiar to me at all so like most mothers would do, I began to worry. Mom had noticed a few the day before but these were new. On my way to PT, I called and got a dr appointment. We had some time to kill between pt and the dr appt, so we got to hang out with Beth and Sam again. (Georgia was asleep.) When the dr saw the bumps she instantly said, "Chiggers!" I felt like white trash!!!! Anyway they are gone now so we survived. He never once scratched at them. Brandon sprayed the yard so maybe our chigger problem is resolved!

Therapy is really hard on Kohen. The past two Monday nights he has woken up during the night crying. I have to give him Motrin every Monday night to settle him back down. I guess his muscles are sore after all that work. It will benefit in the long run. He is already starting to let go of the furniture and stand for about .1second!!

Physical Therapy

Yesterday was Kohens first physical therapy session. When I dropped him off he was fine. It was a different story when I got back. I could hear him crying when I walked in. I knew it was going to be hard on him. He wears a brace on his legs to keep them straight during therapy and for a little while each day at home. She had just put the brace on him when I got there. Needless to say he did not like it. Brooke, (the PT, whom we really like) is great with him. She knows her stuff!!! After PT, we went to my friend Beth's. Kohen and her little girl, Georgia tried their hardest to get into big brother Sam's stuff!! Kohen was not in the best mood for them but he was tolerable. Later that night, he was so tired (and probably sore) that he could not even stand up!!!! It was pitiful! Hopefully, he will not be too sore today. I will post a picture of him in his brace later.
